How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

Gorgeous, effortless lashes don’t have to be a messy, time-consuming affair. False eyelashes and lash extensions require daily maintenance and take so much time. Lash lifts are a simple and long-lasting way to make your eyes pop!

Like brow lamination, a lash lift is essentially a perm for your lashes. Because chemicals are involved in the process, it’s a salon-only treatment. Using silicone rods and some secret sauce, your technician gives your lashes that little something extra.

Paired with a lash tint, you can say goodbye to clumpy, uneven mascara! Lash lifts are exactly what you need to accentuate those beautiful eyes.

Say yes to a lash lift and learn about the process with us today!

What is a lash lift?

All lashes have a natural shape. A lash lift just gives them a little more curvaceousness than before. That extra lift opens up sleepy-looking eyes and makes lashes look thicker and longer. Instead of applying falsies, you’ll have the lashes you always wanted with little to no work in the morning.

Following the regular lash growth cycle, you can have a lash lift done every 6 to 8 weeks.

So, how long does a lash lift last?

Depending on how quickly your lashes grow, you’ll enjoy the benefits of a lash lift for four to six weeks. As they grow out, the treatment’s effects fade. Using gentle cleansers after a treatment prolongs the effect!

Combine a lash lift with a tint for best results

It might surprise you to know that hairs aren’t all the same color. After a lash lift, you’ll have perkier hair. That’s a guarantee. But lighter strands will still look faded in contrast to the darker hairs. A lash tint evens out the colors and provides a more consistent look. Together, these treatments are a match made in heaven!

The process of a lash lift

Before booking your first lash lift, make sure to do your homework. Coming prepared for your appointment will set you up for a relaxing session with no stress.

How to prepare for a lash lift appointment

Most reputable estheticians require a patch test before going through the lash lift process. Patch testing allows them to see how your skin reacts to the lifting and setting creams. It’s an essential step in the process so you don’t get irritated skin on your eyelids.

Before your session, remove all makeup, and don’t wear contacts. Avoid curling your lashes the day before your treatment as well. Also, give waterproof mascaras a break for a few days.

What to expect during your treatment

When you arrive for your appointment, lash lifts are a simple process. Your lash artist will take you back into the studio for the procedure. First, they’ll clean the area around the eyes and ensure no makeup is present.

Then, silicone rods are used to curl the lashes. Small gives the biggest curl of the three sizes (small, medium, and large). Using lash glue, your artist will glue your lashes to the rod before applying the lifting cream. The cream contains a keratin treatment that will stay on your lashes to relax them and encourage the lifting effect.

After applying a setting cream, the technician simply removes the silicone rod, and your lashes are ready for the big reveal.

You’ll have a dramatic curl that looks like your natural lashes times ten!

Aftercare tips to extend the length of your lash lift results

Prolonging the effects of a lash lift isn’t hard. You simply have to follow the aftercare instructions. After that critical 24 hours, there are some other ways to ensure best results.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

Don’t get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours

Don't get your eyelashes wet within 24 hours after your treatment. This includes steam rooms, pools, and sweaty activities. Don’t touch your lashes if you can help it!

Use an oil-free makeup remover

Oil-based makeup removers can weaken the effects of a lash lift or make them fade sooner. They’ll also dissolve the chemical bonds in the semi-permanent dyes used in lash tints. If you’ve paired these treatments or only received the lift, use oil-free or gentle makeup removers.

Sleep on your back

As invasive as this sounds, sleeping on your back keeps your lashes looking fabulous for as long as possible. If you sleep on your stomach, your eyelashes get mashed into your pillow for hours at a time! This may lead to the lift falling or taking on weird shapes. You can brush your eyelashes upwards with an eyelash brush when you wake up to help. But really, try to sleep on your back.

Apply an eyelash serum regularly

Using an eyelash serum supports healthy lashes and prolongs the curl. In the days following your treatment, use these products to ensure soft, supple hair that shines.

Avoid prolonged sunlight and UV rays when possible

Long hours in the sun and tanning booths expose your lashes to harsh UV rays. Not only do they cause skin damage, but they also degrade the color and shape of your lashes. Wear sunglasses, and protect your lashes (and skin!) from lengthy sun exposure without protection.
