Brow Lamination Aftercare: Maintain Your Beautiful Brows!

So, you did it! You finally got your eyebrows laminated and they’re everything you’d hoped they would be – but now what? In the midst of all your daily activities you're going to want to make sure your brows are appropriately taken care of so that you get the most out of your brow lamination treatment

What to do after a brow lamination appointment

To keep things simple, we’ve outlined all the tips and tricks, as well as important things you may not have known so that you can keep your brows looking sharp and snatched for the weeks to come. Below you can find the step by step instructions for the easiest brow lamination aftercare experience.

Your brows should be gently brushed to keep them looking well-kept

First things first: try to be aware of how you handle your brows. To be safe, it is best if you avoid any physical touch to your brows within the first 24 hours of your appointment. In the event that you need to touch your eyebrows following the first 24 hours, make sure that you’re gentle and try to follow the direction of your laminated brows.

After a few days, look into applying eyebrow serums

Once around a week has transpired, consider applying a conditioning eyebrow serum to your brows. Although your brows should be happy and healthy following your eyebrow lamination, your brows can always benefit from the restorative properties of a hydrating serum.

Brow gels are capable of making benefits last longer

Although the point of your brow lamination is to keep your eyebrows in place for that perfect natural look, you can try to prolong your results by adding brow gel to your daily routine. If you feel like your brows may be starting to shift, apply some gel to your brow hairs for a seamless hold.

Use skincare products that do not contain oils in them

Last on our list is a critically important tip: avoid using products that contain oil. Whether it’s a toner, face wash, or a makeup remover, products that contain oil in them can prematurely break down the bonds that keep your eyebrows in place. When using these products, take extra precaution not to get any in your brow hairs!

What to avoid right after a brow lamination appointment

In addition to our tips on how to properly care for your perfectly placed brows, we want to help you understand what activities or actions may ruin or diminish the quality of your eyebrows.

Avoiding direct sun without SPF

Since your brows have just been exposed to mild chemicals, it is considered good practice to avoid direct sunlight exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours following your service. Sun exposure will always be hard on the skin if not appropriately protected, however; services like waxing and brow laminations leave your skin at a higher risk for sun damage within that two day window.

Don’t use makeup on your eyebrows after an appointment

When it comes to wearing makeup, you may need to make some changes to your routine for the first 24 hours following the brow lamination process. Simply put, adding heavy products to the brow (think concealer, cream highlighters, and foundation) can end up irritating your skin or clogging pores that have recently been opened during your brow appointment. Makeup may also interfere with the quality of your lamination if applied too soon.

For at least two days, do not sleep on your front side

Sorry side and stomach sleepers! This one may be a little tough to hear, but it truly is important. If you’re looking for quality, long lasting results, you must try your best to avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for the first 48 hours following your appointment.

Try not to get water on them for at least a day

In addition to trying to avoid moving your freshly laminated brows, one of the biggest rules is to avoid getting them wet. Similar to getting a perm, water can break down and ruin the chemical bonds that are put in place to keep your new brow shape. For at least 24 hours, avoid any water contact with your eyebrows. This includes washing your face, showers and swimming pools.

Steer clear of using creams or oils the first day of brow aftercare

Similar to water, creams and oils can interfere with lamination results. Although products with oil in it should be avoided as much as possible, it is especially critical to avoid them during your first 24 hours.

Skip out on physical activities that include sweating a lot

Oftentimes people can forget the effect that their own body can play in breaking down the bonds on your brow hairs. Sweating, whether it’s a hot day or physical activity, can result in a shortened window of flawless brows.
